Sunday I made my way to Unst and a viewing of Belmont House. It takes 2 ferries to get Unst, but I love the journey and sometimes Killer Whales can be spotted in Yell Sound. Keep an eye out! The photo was taken at Toft (mainland Shetland). I sat on the beach waiting for Yell ferry. Next leg of trip - a quick scoot across the island for another ferry to the most northerly inhabited island in UK - Unst. More photos to follow....Fabulous guided tour and I'm saving my pennies for a stay at this stunner. Have a sneaky beaky at website. Superb retreat and plenty to keep you busy on Unst.

ReplyDeleteA few years back we stayed in the youth hostel at Uyeasound and back then Belmont House was still derelict. Its amazing to see how it has been transformed, it looks very smart now. How lovely to be able to look around.
I love Uyeasound - only one campervan when I was there! Belmont is quite beautiful. I will post photos soon. A superb get away from it all. It was great to have an Open Day, there might be one more this summer. It's booking up so quickly, there are few opportunities for public to have a look around. Good news for the island tho'
