Happy Shetland Flag Day!

There's a long story attached to the 'birth' of the Shetland flag.  I wrote a 3-part Shetland Flag saga a while ago.  I won't tell all, but I will tell you there's a whole heap of people involved in this story, including Lord Lyon King of Arms, many helpful Swedish folk - in particular sailors, 2 chaps called Roy and Bill, oooh and another two called Donnie and Maurice, and the author of 'Flags of the World' - a flag expert from the Netherlands.  There was much cogitating and deliberating and rubbing of beards over specifications (so I've heard).  After many pots of tea and home bakes (and several letters to the Shetland Times) the Shetland Flag was born.  June 21st 2007 was designated Shetland Flag Day.  Happy Shetland Flag Day to all!
